[Wikipedia] "The Tuareg (also Twareg or Touareg, Berber: Imuhagh, besides regional ethnyms) are a Berber nomadic pastoralist people. They are the principal inhabitants of the Saharan interior of North Africa.

They call themselves variously Kel Tamasheq or Kel Tamajaq; ("Speakers of Tamasheq"), Imuhagh, Imazaghan or Imashaghen ("the Free people"), or Kel Tagelmust, i.e., "People of the Veil". The name Tuareg was applied to them by early explorers and historians (since Leo Africanus).

The origin and meaning of the name Twareg has long been debated with various etymologies advanced, although it would appear that Twārəg is derived from the "broken plural" of Tārgi, a name whose former meaning was "inhabitant of Targa" (the Tuareg name of the Libyan region commonly known as Fezzan. Targa in Berber means "(drainage) channel", see Alojali et al. 2003: 656, s.v. "Targa").

The Tuareg today are found mostly in North Africa and West Africa. Some historians claim they progressively moved south over the last 2000 years. They were once nomads throughout the Sahara. They have a little-used but ancient script known as the Tifinagh."

You surely recognized that the description above is not exactly us. The name Twareg could of course be an abbreviation for Totally Wicked and Restless Entrepreneurial Group. It could also be a misspelled SUV. However, in our case, it is a remainder of Atlas times. The core team of the portal was called Tuareg and we use this name as a memory of the beautiful period of Atlas beginnings.

The picture on the left depicts the territory of Tuareg people. Our tribe is not that humble. We are at home everywhere, mostly on the internet. On the other hand we own no camels, neither we have headcount of a million. Thank God. After having built a company with more than 200 employees, we will stick to the Dunbar number. Not that we had not enjoyed managing a large company - it definitely was fun and also source of a lot of experience. But we feel better in the start-up environment, everyone knowing each other's first name, knowing without org-chart who can help with an acute problem. We will happily leave transformation from start-up level to corporation level to the ones who enjoy that and who for a change feel unsafe having to plug the printer in themselves instead of calling the tech support.

The company Twareg a.s. is very loosely connected with the Twareg team. Essentially its purpose is to provide institutional framework while incubating projects that would - upon reaching certain stage of development - be transformed into a separate company. This is why the Twareg team is fliud, changing all the time, increasing and diminishing. The core of the team are Pavel Doležal and Petr Dejm.

Pavel has proven his managerial skills already at the age of six, when he had an opportunity to earn some money by distributing newspapers in his village. He managed to delegate this task to many members of his family.

Petr only recalls that at the age of six he walked daily to school passing the Prague castle. Apparently, this experience left a footprint in his sense for beauty. After his studies he worked with dance groups (as an impresario, not a dancer) and later also managed large scale opera performances.

P.S. Those who will ever have a chance to read a handwritten note from Pavel, will recognize that he actually has some inheritance from the African tribes. It is not exactly Tifinagh but his script appears to be very ancient and unreadable as well.
